Young period band Höör Barock, based in the south of Sweden, has chosen a colourful programme for its debut album. Together with recorder virtuoso Dan Laurin at the helm, the 12 musicians steer a course through Telemann’s celebrated Wassermusik, its sea gods and goddesses dancing bourrées and gavottes. The centrepiece of the recording is Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto, the composer’s arrangement of his own Brandenburg Concerto No. 4, featuring soloist Anna Paradiso. The Bach is flanked on either side by another Baroque heavyweight, Arcangelo Corelli, whose concertos are heard in a slightly unusual guise. They are typically performed by strings alone, but inspired by recent research, Laurin and his recorder-playing colleague Emelie Roos take on the solo parts, the tutti ensemble joined by oboes and bassoon, while a Baroque harp adds to the angelic atmosphere of the closing.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
