The Government was formed in the early 2000s in Madrid, with the clear goal of playing music that would incorporate classic rock, soul, R&B and punk. The band's second full-length album Vote Me Tender is sprinkled with references to influences ranging from MC5 and The Jam to the Chambers Brothers, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Wilson Pickett.
