Juno Award Nomination – Classical Album of the Year: Large Ensemble, 2018 "... (Moser is) one of the finest among the astonishing gallery of young virtuoso cellists ..." - Gramophone The profoundly moving, elegiac lyricism of Elgar and the wistful charm and brilliance of Tchaikovsky are spotlighted on this album, performed with consummate virtuosity by award-winning German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande under Andrew Manze. Written at the end of the First World War, Elgar's powerful Cello Concerto is one of his most popular and deeply-felt compositions. The soloist's wrenching chords which open the piece announce a mood of profound resignation and loss: gone is the youthful swagger of earlier works, replaced instead with lonely introspection and longing. No such dejection hangs over Tchaikovsky's delightful Variations on a Rococo Theme which ooze elegance, ineffable charm and daring technical brilliance.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
