Digital Booklet
The accordion voyage promised on this album starts in the here and now and becomes a fascinating musical trip spanning the centuries. It seems paradoxical that the accordion, only invented in 1848, is able to uncover new secrets from the Baroque to the present without signalling any time jumps. A link is made from Dave Douglas to Stian Carstensen's Farmers Market, from J.S. Bach to Domenico Scarlatti to Richard Wagner, Erik Satie and the Japanese contemporary composer Fumio Yasuda. Carstensen and fellow accordionists Teodoro Anzellotti, Alan Bern, Dominic Cortese, Guy Klucevsek and Ulrich Schlumberger are among the best in their field, leading this journey throughout modern times. The compilation is the 10th and final release in the Winter and Winter Jubilee Edition, a series of themed recordings to celebrate the label's 30th anniversary.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
