Digital Booklet
"This recommendable CD of some of Bach’s greatest works for the harpsichord, well played with a touch of flair and an individual interpretative approach that removes much of this music from the museum and brings it into our living rooms, where it belongs ..." - International Record Review "... the Gavottes, Passepieds and Bourrées dance off the page with lively rhythmic swagger and delineation. Devine’s masterly legato fingering brings uncommon linear clarity and transparency to the Sarabande and the Echo movement’s pronounced dynamic contrasts sound positively modern in their impact, helped by warm and detailed sound." - Gramophone The "Italian" Concerto and "French" Overture together make up the second part of Bach’s Clavier-Übung, performed on this 2014 release by Steven Devine on the double manual harpsichord. The "Italian" Concerto has long been thought a product of Bach’s extensive study of Vivaldi’s concertos. The large scale of the "French" Overture's opening movement is unprecedented in the work of Bach, being his longest single keyboard movement. It is grandiose and imposing in character and stands in contrast to the seven shorter, more delicate dance movements that follow.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
