Presenting piano works written between the years 1912 to 1938, pianist Giorgio Koukl returns to the music of Belarusian composer Arthur Vincent Lourié on this second volume. Initially appointed head of the music division of the Soviet culture and education department in 1918, Lourié went into voluntary exile in Berlin in 1921 and then on to Paris, where he met Stravinsky. The music presented here bears traces not only of Stravinskian neo-classicism but also hints of Skryabin, performed with delicacy by Swiss-based Koukl.
