Despite not being a guitarist himself, British composer Stephen Dodgson became a specialist in writing for the instrument from the 1960s onwards, producing a rich catalogue for the instrument alone, in quartets, and often in combination with the violin. This release draws together many of Dodgson's compositions in this vein, including Change-Ringers (performed by the Mēla Guitar Quartet) and Divertissement (with violinist Hartmut Richter, the Mēla Guitar Quartet, and guitarist Michael Butten).
