Digital Booklet
“[Giltburg's] originality stems from a convergence of heart and mind, served by immaculate technique and motivated by a deep and abiding love for one of the 20th century’s greatest composer-pianists.” - Gramophone "Giltburg is an artist whose range of expression brought so much more than slushy romance to Rachmaninov’s emotion-laden score. Whether wistful and dreamy or tense and heart-aching, the lyricism of his playing was a joy to listen to." - The Scotsman Winner of the 2013 Queen Elisabeth Competition Russian-Israeli pianist Boris Giltburg presents four works by Rachmaninov and on this release. The centrepieces are the Russian master's Piano Concerto No. 2—for which Giltburg is joined by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto—and the Études-tableaux, Op. 33, eight evocative and highly virtuosic pieces. These are complemented by two Rachmaninov arrangements: the beloved and romantic Liebesleid by Kreisler and Franz Behr's humorous polka Lachtäubchen.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
