Orfordness was written by modern British composer David Gorton for pianist Zubin Kanga, who first performed it in 2012. Named after a secret military testing site in England in operation from the first World War until 1993, the movements represent the activity on site, from development of secret weapons and radar systems to alleged encounters with UFOs. The rest of the programme includes the Kreutzer Quartet on two pieces, oboist Christopher Redgate and, on the closing work the Cello Sonata No. 2, cellist Neil Heyde.
