Conductor Mikhail Pletnev deserves plenty of the credit for the success of this album as he leads the Russian National Orchestra on these suites, some familiar and some less familiar, by Rimsky-Korsakov. Pletnev's sensitive and insightful interpretations have been singled out in several reviews as a vital ingredient of this interesting and revealing album.
