"The defining trait of Sound Prints is the tangled crosstalk of its front line: an urbane, on-the-fly counterpoint brimming with crooked urgency, like a choice bit of dialogue in a David Mamet play." - The New York Times Veteran jazz musicians Joe Lovano (sax) and Dave Douglas (trumpet) team up on Live At Monterey Jazz Festival, the debut from their co-led quintet Sound Prints. The album, recorded live in September 2013, includes the premiere of two new compositions written for the band by its primary inspiration, Wayne Shorter. In fact the band’s name is a nod to Shorter's classic Footprints, although the quintet's focus is on new original compositions by Lovano and Douglas as well as new Shorter compositions in direct collaboration with the composer himself. "It's not often when a combination of musicians elect to immerse themselves in an explorative adventure without hesitation or reservation. May they continue forging ahead on the trail less trodden. Onward!" - Wayne Shorter

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
