I hope to hear much more from them ..." - MusicWeb International Baroque ensemble Concentus VII explores the works of composers associated with the 17th century Italian literary society Pontificia Accademia degli Arcadi (The Academy of Arcadia) on this album. Among the works featured here are two of Handel’s best loved cantatas and Alessandro Scarlatti’s Bella s’io t’amo with its recently discovered opening recitative; a rare example of an Italian cantata featuring a solo recorder obbligato. The cantatas are interspersed with well chosen solo sonatas and the album concludes with Lotti’s fiery cantata Ti sento, O Dio bendato.
