This is one of the earliest collaborations between organist and composer Marcel Dupré and the Mercury Living Presence label, recorded in New York during three late-night sessions at St. Thomas Church in 1957. The success of this release, featuring works by Franck, motivated the label to record five additional albums in 1959 with Dupré on the organist's home turf, at Saint-Sulpice in France.
