Available for the very first time, this is a live album of Vladimir Horowitz's last recital in Chicago, recorded by a local radio station at Orchestra Hall on October 26, 1986. Horowitz was popular in the city: he played there 37 times over his career, mostly to sold-out venues. In 1986 he’d come up with perhaps a better plan: a concert that would be broadcast as a gift to the people of Chicago. It was only aired twice and has not been heard since that time, lying all but forgotten in the station's vaults until a producer discovered the tapes in 2013. Also included are two interviews with Horowitz that were used as intermission features during the broadcast.
