"... contemplative beauty and melancholy ..."
- The New York Times

"There’s something strangely captivating about hearing Jan Garbarek and the Hilliards chase each other across the centuries ...harnesses the generous and accommodating acoustic to bewitching effect ... a pretty seductive formula that still creates a fair measure of magic. You might not want to hear it every day but there will be some days when you’ll want to hear little else."
- Gramophone

"... will please both jazz aficionados and followers of choral music ... the resounding natural reverberation adds to the music (giving) it greater depth and majesty than would be expected from four voices and a saxophone ... sung in various languages, the music carries no overtly religious messages and is not attempting to preach to anyone. Instead, those of any faith or of no faith can appreciate its simple beauty."
- BBC Music

This third album from Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek and Renaissance vocal quartet the Hilliard Ensemble comes after almost two decades of shared experiences, a million-selling debut and international acclaim. The word "beauty" is often used in reviews of this recording; indeed the four voices and saxophone blend beautifully as Garbarek's instrument becomes a fifth "voice," the performances rendered even more luminous amid the acoustics of St. Gerold's monastery in Austria.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
