Digital Booklet
Grammy Nomination - Best Classical Instrumental Solo, 2015 "The playing testifies to a maturity of technique and vision remarkable in a musician who was only 21 at the time." - The Daily Telegraph "... it's everything you would expect: dramatic and thrilling, soulful and artistic: true virtuosic playing from a name to look out for." - Classic FM “... what's impressive here is not just the magnificent and reactive pianism on show but also his maturity. His Chopin Preludes possess a stunning elan ... perhaps it's no coincidence that Trifonov is also a composer; he has a composerly grasp of the structure of all the works here.” - Gramophone Winner of the 2011 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, the Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv the same year and a 2014 Grammy nominee, Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov has created quite a stir among connoisseurs; on the occasion of his first Carnegie recital, that anticipation gave way to the thrill, fulfillment and delight of a full-fledged triumph. The programme of Trifonov's remarkable 2013 Carnegie debut presents music of the tradition to which he is heir: Chopin’s 24 Preludes Op. 28, Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B Minor and Scriabin’s Piano Sonata No. 2 “Sonata Fantasy”, a chain of romantic works with a kindred spirit, written by composers who were themselves all piano virtuosos in their own right.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
