Digital Booklet
"Four Stars ... an impressive follow-up (to Distances) ... converts won't be disappointed." - The Guardian "... even greater emphasis on Winstone the lyricist ... an even more personal collection than either this trio's past releases or the hushed beauty of her 1987 ECM debut as a leader ... doesn't entirely desert Winstone's warm and enticing approach to wordless vocals ... her name may be on the marquee here, but it's clear that this is a trio of equals ...Stories Yet To Tell could be the pithy mission statement for this sublime trio, as it continues to mine a breadth of external sources, filtered through its own softly refracting internal prism." - All About Jazz The Grammy-nominated, award-winning trio that gave us the highly acclaimed Distances in 2008 returned in 2010 with another revelatory programme. As both singer and lyricist Norma Winstone has few contemporary peers: her words seem to float up from the music’s expressive core. It becomes evident that this trio is united by a profound feeling for song and the stark instrumentation (voice, piano, bass clarinet/soprano sax) never seems to limit the repertoire, but encourages the players to explore widely and to make musical use of the available space. Jazz ballads find their place alongside original music by reed player Klaus Gesing and pianist Glauco Venier, adaptations of folk songs and "chamber" pieces influenced by classical or contemporary composition. Textures, colours and rhythms may be drawn from scattered, surprising sources and even the hypnotic lulling of an Armenian cradle song has a role to play.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
