Afrika Mamas is a seven-piece all female vocal ensemble formed in 1996 with the vision of promoting their African culture through music and theatre. The three-time South African Music Awards nominees sing in an a cappella or Mbube style, featuring rich textures and thick harmonies that have been compared to Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The dozen tracks featured on this album provide an excellent representation of this moving and inspirational group.
