Digital Booklet
"The performance is spotless and the sonics are fine." - American Record Guide "... a superb vehicle for the virtuoso playing of flutist Kersten McCall ... everything is superbly performed and recorded ..." - MusicWeb International "... ideal performances ... Kersten McCall (principal flute in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) is a spectacular soloist in Soie ... sound is bright and as crystal clear as a Finnish lake." - Fanfare "Four Stars ... the billowing, tumbling flute (is) played with fluttering and note-bending effects, echoed and egged on by the rest of the orchestra. Dima Slobodeniouk and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra are persuasive advocates for a composer with ideas and a distinctive way of voicing them." - The Guardian Lotta Wennäkoski's orchestral music is characterized by a rich and colourful sound world that often incorporates unconventional playing techniques and noise. Over the years her range of expression has become gradually broader, deeper and more powerful, as demonstrated on this collection of recent compositions. The title work Soie is a concertante piece commissioned by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra for flute and orchestra and placed on the list of recommended works at the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers. Kersten McCall, principal flutist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, is the featured soloist. Conductor Dima Slobodeniouk and the orchestra have received lavish praise for their performances on all these selections.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
