Most of the tracks on this remastered collection were released in 1957 on the Miles Davis album Birth Of The Cool, recorded during three sessions in 1949 and 1950. The final four songs are drawn from the 1956 album Quintet/Sextet, featuring Milt Jackson on vibes.
