Digital Booklet
"... (the Piano Quintet) is an exultant work with plenty of joyous activity for each of the five musicians. It is demonstrative, tense and brimming with intense cantabile ... performances are more than capable with the listener gaining the feeling that the players know the music well enough to enjoy putting it across rather than having to concentrate on forming the notes." - MusicWeb International A cast of talented musicians shines the spotlight on two works by Bruno Walter, now considered one of the most revered conductors of his time. In the early part of his musical career, however, Walter modelled himself as both a composer and conductor, much like his friend and role model Gustav Mahler. Walter's large scale Piano Quintet, couched in the late-Romantic idiom, is a powerful expression of his consummate compositional skill. The Violin Sonata, Walter’s last chamber work, offers a study in expressive contrasts, its unsettled moods reflective of the time in which it was written.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
