Conductor Carolyn Kuan leads the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, joined by pianist Jie Chen, on this programme of Chinese piano concertos, featuring a wonderful arrangement of The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto for piano and orchestra. This concerto has become world famous for its emotional blend of Western and Eastern traditions. The Yellow River Concerto is one of the most popular of all Chinese works, a rich, melodic exploration.
