Recorded at sold-out concerts in Toronto in February 2016, this live album completes the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra’s cycle of Beethoven symphonies which began almost two decades ago. With this release, Tafelmusik becomes the first North American orchestra to record all nine Beethoven symphonies on period instruments. Under the baton of Bruno Weil, the orchestra and choir is joined by acclaimed soloists include Sigrid Plundrich, Mary-Ellen Nesi, Colin Balzer and Simon Tischler. "We approach the Beethoven concerts and recording as if they were the very first performances, as though the music had been composed yesterday. This is the real thing: there’s no sense of routine with Tafelmusik musicians and everybody’s playing with a full heart and a full soul and spirit. That is the secret to a great performance." - Bruno Weil

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
