Digital Booklet
Grammy Award nomination - Best Classical Compendium, 2016 Discoveries contains world premiere recordings of works by Ralph Vaughan Williams that offer insight into the composer as a visionary, a romantic, a patriot and a lover. The selections performed here by Martyn Brabbins and the BBC Symphony Orchestra span Williams's entire working career, from the Three Nocturnes of 1908 to the Four Last Songs written some 50 years later. What unites them is that three living composers were involved in realizing them in their present form: Anthony Payne, Adrian Williams and Philip Lane combine an understanding of this music with a deep love of it, so that the additional writing enhances rather than conceals or modifies Williams's originals.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
