"Four Stars. Rather virtuosic playing from the Icelanders here ..." - Audiophile Audition “… a vital, vividly scored and eventually stirring piece. Rumon Gamba keeps it all on the move ... the orchestra, bright in tone against a resonant background, plays with precision and energy ...” - BBC Music Magazine "... Rumon Gamba and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra capture d’Indy’s abstract sonic landscape very well, achieving a warmth considerably more Mediterranean than the climate of Reykjavik." - International Record Review Rumon Gamba and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra follow a Grammy-nominated first volume with this second recording of three orchestral works from French composer Vincent D’Indy, including the rarely recorded Symphony No. 2 inspired by César Franck. Gamba clearly has affection for d'Indy's works as he's recorded five volumes of d'Indy's compositions with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Filling out this album are two even lesser known works: Tableaux de voyage, d'Indy's arrangement for orchestra of six movements from his solo piano work of the same name, and Karadec, a suite of incidental music composed for a dramatic play.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
