Digital Booklet
"Critic’s Choice ... an exceptional recital ... everything here, in this mixed bag from Scarlatti to Liszt is terrific. It’s a recital to sit down and enjoy at a single sitting. The three Scarlatti sonatas, chosen from the many dozen available, have wonderful bounce and verve and, thanks to the composer, some exceptional melodic content ... a real winner for any pianophiles." - Classic FM On My New Piano is a showcase for Daniel Barenboim’s revolutionary concert grand Barenboim-Maene, which he developed in collaboration with respected Belgian instrument maker Chris Maene with support from Steinway & Sons. Barenboim was inspired to design a new piano after playing Franz Liszt’s restored grand piano during a trip to Siena in September 2011. Struck by the vital differences in sound, he set out to create an instrument that combines the best of the old and the new and offers a real alternative for pianists and music lovers in the 21st century. To display his piano’s timbral and tonal capabilities on this album, Barenboim selected works by four keyboard masters. "I’ve fallen in love with my new piano and want to spend as much time with it as possible ... the transparency and tonal characteristics of the traditional straight-strung instruments is so different from the homogenous tone produced by the modern piano across its entire range. The clearly distinguishable voices and colour across its registers of Liszt’s piano inspired me to explore the possibility of combining these qualities with the power, looks, evenness of touch, stability of tuning and other technical advantages of the modern Steinway ..." - Daniel Barenboim

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
