On his new album Piazzolla 100, violinist Rudens Turku, some of his musical friends and the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn celebrate the Argentine musician and composer Astor Piazzolla: The South American tango revolutionary would have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. Rudens Turku is the ideal soloist for his complex and gripping compositions. The music of Astor Piazzolla – concertante music of a cosmopolitan Argentinean with Italian ancestors who grew up in the USA – offers him very special opportunities for this. Together with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra and musical friends such as the outstanding Dutch accordion and bandoneon player Carel Kraayenhof, the pianist Oliver Schnyder, the cellist Benjamin Nyffenegger or Dominik Wagner on bass, he interprets the great and well-known Piazzolla pieces such as Libertango, Milonga del ángel, Oblivion or Adios Nonino in partly new, colorful and cleverly set arrangements.
