The Band of the Coldstream Guards is one of the oldest and best known bands in the British Army and was at the very forefront of recorded sound, cutting their first recordings in 1889. Starting in 1902 they began making regular recordings for the Gramophone, Typewriter & Sister Companies, the first twenty years of which are surveyed in this collection of classical music favourites including Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
