The musical journey of an ambition, a stubbornness, a tragedy, a feat. This record visits fifty years in Chilean operatic creation. Here influences of different types are collected, from the Italian of Puccini and Verdi, through Wagner and the French Impressionists, without forgetting nationalist Creoleism: it was the search for a voice, a style, and trying to belong to the musical elite national and the most ambitious musical genre. The reception of almost all of them was adverse on the part of a vigilant, modest elite, who longed for a national operatic, but at the same time punished the daring. Many of the names of these composers became just a line or an anecdote in the national musical historiography. For the same reason, most of these operas were heard and seen only in one season, others never reached the stage and finally they were saved, unpublished, in handwritten scores, in their singing and piano version. It was necessary to find those manuscripts, then do some editing work and after that bring them back to life, so that an auditor of this 21st century, already almost a hundred years away, can hear and appreciate them, far from that troubled Chile of rivalries, prejudices and desires of the early twentieth century.
