Digital Booklet
"... Abel and Steinberg’s records for Wilson are the best sounding chamber music recordings I’ve ever heard. The hall has been effectively eliminated and the two musicians are there in your listening room, palpably scaled and positioned. Abel has a small but attractive tone and he plays with spot-on intonation and a narrow, even vibrato. The subtlety and control of his playing is matched by his accompanist." - The Absolute Sound "Recording of the Month ... oh, what a breath of fresh air this (Abel and Steinberg) is! An audiophile recording of real music that isn't bombastic, overblown, or high-powered. Imagine, if you can, a private recital in your own home by two consummate artists who play these works for their own delight as much as for yours. Imagine sound so completely and disarmingly natural that after 30 seconds you're unaware it's reproduced. That's what this record is all about." - Stereophile This compilation brings together three of Wilson Audiophile's catalogue releases featuring works by Beethoven and other composers, presented in the company's famous demonstration sound quality. On Hyperion Knight's 1983 album he plays a nine foot Sheldon Smith concert grand, beautifully captured by Wilson's engineers in the very workshop in Berkeley, California where the piano was built. David Abel and Julie Steinberg's acclaimed 1984 collection of violin sonatas was a Stereophile Recording of the Month and received a glowing review in The Absolute Sound. Wrapping up the set is a 1995 album of clarinet trios from renowned solo clarinetist Charles West, cellist Roger Drinkall and pianist Dian Baker of the Drinkall-Baker Duo.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
