“Yet again a fine achievement, striking the right balance between deep contemplation and freshness of approach.” - International Record Review “Together [Masaaki Suzuki and Bach Collegium Japan] have achieved remarkable things in their Bach odyssey, and this latest collection must rank among their most successful to date.” - MusicWeb International Masaaki Suzuki and Bach Collegium Japan return with three church cantatas written for the end of 1724 and early 1725 while Bach was Thomaskantor (Kapellmeister) in Leipzig. All three are chorale cantatas, Bach's favoured type, and are therefore based on pre-existing Lutheran hymns: Jesu, nun sei gepreiset uses a hymn from 1591 by Johannes Hermann, Ich hab in Gottes Herz und Sinn uses one from 1647 by Paul Gerhardt, and Herr Gott, dich loben alle wir uses another by Paul Eber from 1554. As has come to be expected from this series, Bach Collegium Japan are in fine form, proving why they are considered to be among the top interpreters of this sacred Baroque repertoire.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
