Digital Booklet
"All eight voices blend together exquisitely to haunting and beautiful effect and the repertoire is perfectly chosen." - Classic FM "... features some of the finest choral singing you'll hear anywhere; as far as chill albums go, it's one of the best I've heard ... (all the performances) are without exception impeccable." - Limelight Voces8 is one of Britain’s finest vocal ensembles. Their 2014 album Eventide is a collection of pieces devoted to reflection, inner peace and musical repose. The album combines original compositions and new arrangements to create a compelling programme infused with the meditative spirit of sacred chant. The eight young singers of Voces8 perform everything from early medieval plainsong to an uplifting transcription of John Williams’s Hymn to the Fallen from his Grammy-winning soundtrack to Saving Private Ryan. The album’s seductive mix of rich vocal harmonies and haunting melodies for solo cello, harp and saxophone brings a fresh contemporary edge to Voces8. Eventide highlights include two ethereal pieces by Patrick Hawes, Reflexionem and Quanta Qualia, a stunning performance of Karl Jenkins’s popular Benedictus, Morten Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium, Eric Whitacre’s The Seal Lullaby and a Harvey Brough arrangement of Britten’s Corpus Christi Carol. Voces8 also explores the hymn-like qualities of two contemporary songs with a cappella arrangements of Emeli Sandé’s Where I Sleep and Kate Rusby’s Underneath the Stars. Eventide will appeal to choral fans and anyone with an interest in spiritual music.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
