The Essen native switched from the guitar to the bass ten years ago and, inspired by a workshop with Yellowjackets bassist Jimmy Haslip, Malte Winter founded the jazz-rock/fusion quintet MWEB (Malte Winter Electric Band).
Melting Worlds is the debut album of Malte Winter's jazz-rock/fusion quintet MWEB (Malte Winter Electric Band), and as the title suggests, the bassist adds stylings taken straight from the fusion genre of the 1970s and 80s in his compositions, bringing its pleasing variants together. It's inevitable that the listener will also associate names like Sanborn, Kriegel, John Lee & Gerry Brown or Dean Brown. But these are only brief impressions, because in the end the sovereign and technically perfect playing MWEB self-confidently breaks away from such templates in its nine pieces, creating its own sound world, which then even allows for psychedelic excursions. pleasantly harmonious, at the same time intensely driving and consistently sonorous.
