It seems like a lie, but in January 2022, it will be forty years since Brazil lost one of its greatest singers: Elis Regina. And what is even more incredible is the fact that Elis is so important in Brazilian popular music. She is celebrated by contemporary fans of her records and concerts, conquers new and attentive listeners and influences new artists. Therefore, the compilation Elis – Essa Saudade, is necessary.
Celebrating Elis, this absence so present, with the forgiveness of the antithesis, is never too much. This compilation produced by journalists Danilo Casaletti and Renato Vieira is based on the final phase of the singer's career, especially her time at Warner, the company where Elis released two important studio albums, Essa Mulher (1979) and Saudade do Brasil (1980). ), plus two posthumous live albums. During this same period, Elis participated in an album by the singer and composer Raul Ellwanger, a native of Rio Grande do Sul like her. The song they performed together, "Pequeno Exilado", has never been reissued and reaches the digital format for the first time in Elis – Essa Saudade, in response to an old request from Elis' admirers.
