"Behle reveals himself a nonpareil singer of the tenor roles ... his lithe, athletic instrument has a pingy bravura quite unlike that of any other singer of this music ..."

"... he demonstrates admirable evenness of tone across his range, the ability to subtly convey the intricacies of religious devotion."
- The Independent

"... honors Gluck in remarkable ways ... most delectably, though, it is a celebration of Daniel Behle, one of the 21st century’s finest young tenors. Gluck will receive no finer tribute on the occasion of his 300th birthday than Behle’s singing on this disc."
- Voix des Arts

Leading German tenor Daniel Behle celebrates the 300th anniversary of Christoph Willibald Gluck’s birth with this 2014 collection of Gluck’s lesser known opera arias. Gluck was a composing genius of the 18th century, a great master of the transition between Baroque and Classical styles, yet his huge output remains largely unknown. Four world premiere recordings are featured on this album which includes arias from 10 different Gluck operas. Behle is accompanied by the brilliant Greek Baroque orchestra Armonia Atenea under conductor George Petrou. Fast becoming well-known to a wide audience, Behle has won many plaudits from respected critics. Comparisons to tenor legends such as Wunderlich, Tauber and Dermota have been made and Behle has been praised for his “bright, supple and warm timbre” and his “natural musicality,” all of which is on fine display on this album as he explores the emotions of each character with captivating psychological insight.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
