Internationally renowned pianist Daniel Blumenthal leads this three album discovery of little known but fascinating works composed within the boundaries of Flanders. Between 1930 and 1960, many sonatinas for piano were written there, these being commissioned or encouraged by music schools and publishers with the student in mind. Though essentially intended for pedagogical use, the compositions present a definite musical interest. It is through this prism that Blumenthal, combining tranquil ease and poetic purity, offers a varied mosaic of repertoire by Flemish composers of the last century.
