"His weighty tone strikes at the emotional heart of this music but that doesn't preclude bite ..." - International Record Review Herwig Zack’s thoughtfully programmed recordings for solo violin have earned him legions of fans and critical acclaim around the world. On this 2013 release he turns to his fellow countrymen in repertoire that ranges from the Baroque to the modern day. Any overview of German violin music must include J.S. Bach, as well as turn of the 20th century titan Max Reger, who clearly based his solo violin output on that of his 17th century predecessor. Zack also presents the world premiere of a piece dedicated to him by Klaus Heinrich Stahmer, but the crowning achievement here is Hindemith's complete works for solo violin, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
