"A recording is like a photograph, it summarizes in an opus a period with all that it supposes of efforts, pleasures, enthusiasms and renunciations: one hopes it will live up to its ambition, and although one is rarely fully satisfied, one ends up accepting it at least for what it testifies. The compositions of this album were all motivated by an idea, a musical emotion and are like many other creations the fruit of the 'nourishing plundering' to which all artists give themselves up, consciously or not. They have been for a few years a kind of Ariadne's thread of my existence, to turn into a real obsession at times that my colleagues have helped me to live at best, just by their adhesion, their presence and their interpretations. Here is this opus, a succession of musical moments reflecting various influences; from jazz, to classic rock to contemporary music. Each of these pieces has been reworked, reread, tested and explored and this 'collective chiseling' that this disc also claims to present. This album, the first one I have made, testifies, I hope, to my attachment to a certain quality of composition which serves as much the soloists who have agreed to accompany me as their improvisations serve the composition." - Éric Dubois
