Two of the world's foremost conductors participate on this album of world premieres by contemporary composer Robin de Raaff. Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra on the Cello Concerto, featuring soloist Marien van Staalen, while Neeme Järvi helms The Hague Philharmonic on Entangled Tales. The concluding Symphony No. 3 was commissioned by the Het Gelders Orkest to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2015 and de Raaff responded with a special composition, a three movement symphony based on the concepts of light and dark, illumination and eclipse as a state of motion. "This cello concerto is a miracle, both for the listener and for the soloist. The listener is swept along through unexplored terrain. The instrumentation stands out, even for a master like Robin. For a cello, Robin’s concerto is innovative and challenging from a technical point of view. The premiere with Yannick and the orchestra was like a celebration: you can hear it. New work only reveals its secrets after a lot of listening, so it is fantastic that this recording is being made." - Marien van Staalen, cellist

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
