Digital Booklet
The Invariant marks the 10th anniversary for Berlin-based pianist-composer Benedikt Jahnel and his trio, consisting of Spanish bassist Antonio Miguel and Canadian drummer Owen Howard. Jahnel is a prolific writer and this album pools the best of the many pieces he had composed in the previous five years, incorporating the dynamic responses of his trio partners into the fabric of the material. For the most part the music has been carefully shaped for these players; this is its strength and the source of its detail. "I like very much interacting with the same group and digging deeper each time into the musical conversation. You have this energetic input and this intense time working together and then I believe the music develops even when we’re apart. When we come back together I can hear the progression that has taken place in the pieces ..." - Benedikt Jahnel

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
