Multi-instrumentalist Pol Belardi leads his band Force on a jazz album that's anything but typical. Starting with classic jazz, the four musicians extend their reach to classical and sprinkle in elements of pop, rock, hip-hop and electronic music on an equal basis. However, the fact that Creation/Evolution is so close to modern experimental jazz is still surprising. The pieces breathe the great spirit of jazz through every note with improvisational daring. Guest guitarist Riaz Khabirpour and string ensemble the Kaiser Quartet juggle elegant virtuosity between late romanticism and contemporary music, further refining the colourful range of sounds.
