“Violinist Ayana Tsuji has caught the operatic diva mood of these pieces and made neat work of their technical fireworks... this disc certainly provides an interesting snapshot of a musical era.”
- Gramophone
“These sparkling performances by young Japanese violinist Ayana Tsuji show judges at the 2016 Montreal International Competition chose wisely when they awarded her numerous prizes. These are charming, worthy concertos that deserve a place, at least occasionally, in the concert hall. Thanks to Naxos for making them available in splendid performances... A splendid release!”
- Classical CD Review
One of the most respected virtuoso violinists of the 19th century, Charles Auguste de Bériot was one of the founding figures in what came to be called the Franco-Belgian school of playing - a revitalized Romantic take on the French style established by Viotti. This release features violinist Ayana Tsuji performing several of Bériot's concertos as well as an air and a fantasia, all ably accompanied by the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice and Michael Halász.
