Crafted with finesse and refinement, this step changing album is masterminded by the highly talented Norwegian composer / performer Daniel Herskedal featuring fellow Norwegian singer-songwriter Emilie Nicolas (4 Times Norwegian Grammy Winner – 2014: Pop soloist of the year and new artist of the year and 2018: Album of the year and pop artist of the year). Out of the Fog is awe-inspiring in its power and beauty with music that leaves you wanting more and more. The music, like its title, evokes the warmth of sunlight emerging from the mist, with a sense of grandness and retrospection. Underlying the whole album is the blend of Daniel’s trademark multi-layered brass, empowering harmonies and soaring melodic lines. But it’s the warmth and emotive power of song and Emilie Nicolas’s soaring vocals that give this album its uniquely defining quality. It’s this collaboration that captures the deep emotional essence of the music, as Daniel explains: “When I first heard Emilie did her own version of my tune ‘The Mistral Noir’, I felt that she took my music to a new level. She totally caught my artistic ideas, and I had a very strong feeling that we should do a project together. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to do Out Of The Fog as a commission for Trondheim Jazzfestival and Molde Jazz Festival in 2021 together with Emilie, and the legends Eivind Aarset & Helge Norbakken”.
