"... his playing here is on fire ... tuneful, unique and concise ..."
- All About Jazz

"... hard to resist for the leader's tumbling energy and enthusiasm, astonishingly glossy tone and freshness of thought."
- The Guardian

"The importance of Ready For Freddie rests in its tension ... the tracks here break new melodic ground ... Hubbard's hot metal sound is countered by Shorter's velvet sledgehammer, and there's a clean articulation throughout."
- JazzWax.com

Ready For Freddie, legendary trumpeter Freddie Hubbard's 1961 album, is considered by many critics to be a masterpiece. Hubbard really came into his own during this session, matched with quite an all-star group (tenor saxophonist Wayne Shorter, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Art Davis, and drummer Elvin Jones in addition to Bernard McKinney on euphonium). Ready For Freddie introduces two of Hubbard's finest compositions (Birdlike and Crisis), and is quite lyrical on his ballad feature, Weaver Of Dreams. Hubbard's sidemen all play up to par making this a memorable session and one of the trumpeter's most rewarding albums.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
