The music in this release is written by composers well-versed in working with audiovisual expression. When working on their creations, there is a clear point of departure; a story, a musical expression, an environment, an emotion. This is a series of images and actions that requires interaction, and proved to be a tantalising premise for cellist Audun Sandvik. As a performer, Sandvik is no stranger to interacting with and addressing an audience, so it made complete sense to assemble music by composers who relate specifically to music in dialogue, yet who still concentrate on the cello as a solo instrument. Joining him on this release is the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, conducted by Thomas Klug, as well as the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Per Kristian Skalstad. Audun Sandvik's heartfelt playing and lively performances make him a much in-demand soloist, orchestral musician, chamber musician and cello teacher. He is currently a cellist in the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, has appeared for several years as a soloist with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and is also currently employed as Professor of Cello at the Norwegian Arctic University in Tromsø.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
