"Five Stars ... vibrantly and idiomatically played by the Tempera Quartet, a first-rate young Finnish ensemble ..."
- BBC Music Magazine

"It is typical of the Tempera that the unfamiliar and the familiar are here played for all they are worth. There is not a sniff of academic completism about these performances. The readable and valuable notes are by that BIS stalwart of longstanding, Andrew Barnett; now one of the great Sibelius biographers."
- MusicWeb International

"A praiseworthy conclusion to the Tempera's fascinating project ... containing the composer's 1909 masterpiece in the medium, Voces intimae ... the Tempera give a technically immaculate, warm-toned and incisive display that will delight all those who have collected their series thus far. Boasting BIS's customarily mellifluous sound and exemplary presentation, this makes a fitting culmination to what has been a most rewarding series."
- Gramophone

This third and last album in a series of Sibelius string quartets from Finland's all-female ensemble the Tempera Quartet was released in May 2007 and features the composer's most famous work in the genre, Voces intimae. Despite its favourable reception, it would prove to be the last string quartet he would write. The Tempera Quartet provides the final pieces of the puzzle of Sibelius and the string quartet, including a preliminary ending of Voces Intimae never before recorded.

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
