"Quantity, yes, but also quality. Boucher urges the listener to pay attention to the style of Tournemire's compositions, deeply rooted in plainchant and the unique colours of the organ." - CBC Music Organist Vincent Boucher continues his exploration of Charles Tournemire’s complete organ music with this fourth volume in the series, recorded on the massive Beckerath organ in Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montréal. At the heart of the programme is the enormous L'orgue mystique, organized in 51 sets, one for every Sunday and holiday of the liturgical year except Advent and Lent when the organ remains silent. An ardent believer, Tournemire insisted on adding pieces for the holidays celebrating the Virgin Mary: the feasts of the Immaculate Conception, the Nativity of Mary, the Purification and the Assumption. "Charles Tournemire is, with Johann Sebastian Bach, my favourite composer. (Tournemire's) music is innovative, mystical and poetic: music that won my admiration from the very first hearing. I count him among the most original and inspired composers of the 20th century. He is probably the biggest influence behind Olivier Messiaen’s style, who predicted that 'One day, the world will rediscover Tournemire.'" - Vincent Boucher

What is High-Resolution Audio?

High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters — exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them — for download, directly to you.

What do I need for playback?

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it!
