Australian trombonist Shannon Barnett is one of several musicians who pay tribute to an often forgotten legend and key figure in jazz, American cornetist and pianist Leon Bismark "Bix" Beiderbecke. Besides Louis Armstrong, Beiderbecke was one of the most influential jazz soloists of the 1920s. With his unusual purity of tone and a gift for improvisation, he helped invent the jazz ballad style and hinted at what, in the 1950s, would become cool jazz. Pianist Bernd Lhotzky serves as musical director on this 2016 recording featuring special guest soprano saxophonist Emile Parisien on Jazz Me Blues.
