"(On content alone) mostly accounts for their rising reputation in Europe ... clearly a very skillful threesome ..."
- The Guardian
"... a marriage made in heaven ... Helbock's compositional skills continue to impress ... there's more than a hint of Keith Jarrett from Helbock ... Helbock is a quirky and original musician who uses all the piano and summons up every mood. His eclecticism adds to the interest for the listener."
- MusicWeb International
Creative, open, hip and unique, Austrian piano wizard David Helbock dives Into the Mystic on several levels, offering a glimpse of the mystery inherent in music, a peek at how the mystical becomes the magical. Helbock belongs to the generation of jazz artists heading off in their own individual directions, pushing the boundaries, radically reconfiguring understanding of old and new, realigning composition and improvisation and challenging common preconceptions about style and personality.
"Musicians can’t really invent anything completely new. What we can do is to take ideas and add something of ourselves. When things are working well, what emerges from that is something really exciting ... these days jazz musicians often take pop songs as their point of departure. Speaking frankly, it doesn’t matter what you cover, whether it’s pop, classical music, world music, whatever. But what does matter is what you then make of it."
- David Helbock
