“the career of Mr. Baptiste can only continue to go forward.”
- Alan Braidwood, BBC Music
The Late Trane is a commanding follow-up to British saxophonist Deny Baptiste’s 2011 Identity By Subtraction. With this release, Baptiste reimagines ten carefully chosen compositions from the latter part of John Coltrane’s career, bringing new interpretations to the visceral emotions and cosmic references of Coltrane’s late music. Viewing Coltrane through the global sounds of London, Baptiste takes on such esoteric works as Ascent, Peace on Earth and Astral Trane.
